Okay, I said I was going to assault your comments at some point, and we've arrived at that point. And why? You guessed it--Sarah Palin.
Now, I understand your point, up to a point--I think it's safe to assume that she's an intelligent woman based on her accomplishments, but damn if she doesn't seem hell-bent on disproving that intelligence every time she opens her mouth. The sins against grammar and complete lack of sustained thought she exibits; the contempt of anything that even remotely pertains to intellectualism, anything outside that most narrow and provincial worldview she ascribes to the "common people"; her amusement at the idea of people working charitably within their communities to better themselves and others (I'm assuming you saw that display at the Convention); and her adoption of that absurd "folksy" manner all seem designed to make her appeal to the lowest common denominator, and seem to be another case of a woman dumbing herself down or putting on an act in order to further herself.
Are we still on that sort of track? Are we still willing to collude in that sort of behavior? Is it not insulting to the country at large that this is how we're being spoken to, as if we were all country hicks? I would say it's extremely insulting, and not just to women. It's right up there with putting her on the ticket in the first place, assuming that one set of tits is just as good as another, and that no one will care to know the difference.
What I'm saying is, every time I hear her speak I feel like I'm watching "Fargo", and I really hope the woodchipper will make an appearance, quickly.
